Tokyo a city rebuilding, reinventing and revitalising

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Nakagin Capsule Tower, 1972.

Tokyo urban landscape is shaped by history of war and natural disaster and continual process of restructuring and growth.

This eccentric residential and office building which looks like stack of washing machines is an icon of the postwar Metabolist movement. It is now in a state of disrepair and it is due for demolition and redevelopment.
