“Yo sé mi niña, yo sé.”

Allow me to tell you the good things about my day.

1.                  We were talking about all of the words to describe appearance and clothes today in class, everyone had to pick a person to describe. Meridith chose me and couldn’t figure out how to say hazel(eye color), in Spanish so she asked Javier (prof that we are secretly in love with.) He said.. he didn’t know what color they were, but that they are ojos bonitos! Bueno. We all get a little bit excited when things like this happen. Meredith is still in the lead with her wink though.

2.                  During our descansa (break time) a few of us went roaming around town again. I   didn’t want my apple today so I gave it to Meridith. About 30 seconds into our walk, an old FAT man comes up to us and starts hitting Mer with his big long cane telling her “Gorda! Gorda!”—which she is not at all the least bit fat! She plays varsity lacrosse for jmu goodness sakes. So she looks at him and goes, “Que! No soy gorda!” He just kept shaking his cane and yelling.. and then finally walked away. Hahaha sooo in shock, I guess you could say, we all just died laughing (we laugh a lot here, if you haven’t noticed) with the fact that a fat old man came rolling down the street just to tell her not to eat anything. It was priceless. We told Javier and he said that the man was being rude, and that we didn’t do anything wrong. –good to know.

Danielle and I just had lunch with our padres. After lunch we always sit around and talk—normally. Today, however, because I have been so sleepy I just wasn’t really following so much. (Sleepy because my brain has been seeing so much, taking in so many different things in a small amount of time, that I need a good sleep.) Anyway, our madre and padre were talking to each other and went into triple speed. It was like when you are watching a DVD and you put in on fast forward just the slightest so that you can still make out words of what people are saying, but not everything. Well that’s exactly what happened in my head as I was trying to follow along. They began talking over one another, completely in their own world--because that’s just what they do--and I literally felt like I was on

1.                  drugs. It was a COMPLETE information overload. I couldn’t process a single word and I felt like my brain was just no funcionando! Of course at this point I was cracking up for lack of a better idea because it was such a new sensation.. Overwhelming and just so weird, and sooo funny for some reason. So when I laughed our padres stopped and just watched me. Neither had any idea what happened when my mama says “Yo se mi nina, yo se.” (I know my daughter, I know, I am watching and I know why you’re laughing.) This made me laugh even more because really she had NOOOOOOOO idea about anything, she just always thinks that she does. So continuing on, I looked at Danielle and I said. “Woah,” how weird was that. I think just about the same thing happened to her. K that’s the end of it.

Just been one of those days. I have like 400 new vocab words/phrases (not quite that much, but it comes close! Yesterday I had to swing by the papeleria to pick up some finchas to write voca words on para practicar!) that I have to learn by next week—to to the office I go—which is where I will actually have a change to get online and post this nonsense that I’ve been writing about.

The weather here is absolutely beautiful. Sun is always out, we've had, at most, about 5 minutes of Sprinkling rain, and the temperatura is muy caliente durante el dia! As soon as it cools off slighty, running outside will be prioritized to daily activity rather than a biweekly one.

PORTUGAL TOMORRRROWWW!!!! A few of us are going by El Arbol- "The Tree" (grocery store) to pick up snacks for the weekend. This trip is not school sponsored so we have to supply our own food and we figured getting snacks prior to the 5 or 6 our busride to Lisboa would be our best bed. wooooooooooot!!!!
