My Scholarship entry - The 101
USA | Sunday, November 16, 2014 | 5 photos
My name is Isaac Ortega. I am a graduate student in Hays, Kansas (or as the locals call it: Hays, America). I have been intrigued by photography for the majority of my life. I first discovered freedom of photography with a simple disposable camera. My mother needed the rest of the pictures to be taken so that she could have the film developed, so she told me to "go wild". I took that challenge to heart and proceeded to try and find the most unique interpretations of the world around me. I loved the experience and the opportunity to try and look at the world in a way that no one else has, to capture what no one else has seen. However, when I showed these picture to my friend who was a photographer he proceeded to tear them apart with the rules that he had learned in class. This upset me, but it also pushed me to expand my knowledge of photography, and how to capture the world through my eyes.
I am a life long learner. I started off knowing nothing but how to press a button. I've read books and have learned tips and tricks through the people that I have met. I have come a long way, but I want to continue to grow. Please pick me, I will not disappoint.
