We had a very early morning the day we left Sydney. We had to be at the bus stop by 5:23 am. We took our first OzExperience bus up to a surf camp, called SpotX. It was in a very secluded town, not known to many tourists.
Once we arrived at the surf camp, we went for a run despite the heat, that ended at the beach for a swim. The surf camp provided us with a glorious meal, and that night we had a few drinks and played some cards with a few fellow campers. We ended off the night listening to live music around a campfire.
It was another early morning, as we had to be up by 6am to have breakfast and prepare for our first surf lesson in Australia! It was heaps of fun, although very, very challenging. We were excited to get on the bus after our lesson, as our next spot was Byron Bay. Once we arrived, we went for our first hot trek with our huge packs on, and by the end we both decided that we packed too much stuff!
Our first night in Byron was loads of fun. We started off with a super horrible $5 bbq, and $5 all you can drink sangria (you get what you pay for!), and met some nice German boys who convinced us it was a great idea to take the free cab to the Cheeky Monkey, a local club. Let's just say that it was a very interesting night, complete with dancing on tables and getting kicked out before the night was over. At least we think that's how it went...
Woke up this morning and threw the idea of oing for a run out the door... Instead we went for a nice greasy breakfast. Pretty much all day we had naps on the beach or in our room. We managed to book a 3 day surf camp, starting tomorrow afternoon... so we're stoked for that! Tonight, we're chilling at the hostel with our first box of goon, and hanging with the crazy Germans. Promise to put up pictures tomorrow afternoon.. though don't blame us if we don't, Byron Bay tends to destroy your strict itinierary as there's always heaps of other things to do.
Thinking of you!
