Naviti Resort - Day 2
Thursday 8 April 2010
A leisurely breakfast that commenced at 8.30am (yes folks, Goog was up and about, showered before 8am!) and was completed about an hour later was the precursor of a much slower, but fuller day than yesterday.
We walked around the resort checking out the facilities and decided that, despite the inquistory inspection, the pool bar was still the place to be. We also decided that we could not spend all day there and that we should try a more physical activity - so snorkelling became the focus of our attention.
Recognising that attending the pool bar would be likely to lead to something resembling a lapse in planning skills, we also decided to map out our activities for the next seven days.
The ladies decided that a shopping trip to Sigatoka on Friday would be interesting (we had a return voucher for the bus trip included in our package so that was booked)
Saturday we would hire a car and drive to Suva, which is around an hour and a half drive away.
Sunday would see a trip to Robinson Crusoe Island (yes, that is apparently the name of the island!) for the entire day with the promise of palatial feasts and numerous activities.
Monday is jet skiing day - we travel to Pacific Harbour and take a 4 hour guided tour of the lagoons and islands just off the 'mainland'
Tuesday is the day we take a hike to a waterfall - another guided tour day with lunch.
Each day was to conclude at the pool bar where we would gather our strength for dinner and the after dinner entertainment provided by the resort.
So to the pool bar we went after lunch (this planning activity actually took up most of the morning) before donning the flippers and snorkel for a bit of a look in the lagoon.
Grumps had never tried this before and he was surprised to find that he really enjoyed it. Goog was having a bit of an issue with the claustrophobic impact of the goggles and mouthfuls of water in the snorkel, so she stayed in the shallows to practice with Michelle whilst Grumps and Leigh went exploring.
After an hour or so, it was decided that this activity was actually a little strenuous and the batteries required recharging with the help of a white or two (or three or four) and some Fiji Bitters.
After eating at the restaurant, we decided to retire rather than attend the entertainment given that it was after 9pm before we finished our meal. This may sound farfetched, but Goog and Grumps were both in bed before 10pm, which the family will recognise as being totally out of the norm, particularly as we had now had two early nights in a row. It must be the sea air.....
