About tanna
Tann Tokka Festival yukell tribe
Hi
My name is Troy Murphy I am from Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. I am a qualified chef that has traveled the South pacific islands and around Australia and fell inlove with an island called Tanna south of the capital Port Villa, which has the most accesable Volcano in the world. My wife Zoe and I spent over 12 months on the island as volunteers to help with tourisim, teaching the indiginous people of the island how to interact with expats visiting Tanna and to give visitors an insight on how the locals live and to see the magnificent Mt Yasur Volcano. We asked for nothing in return but to give our knowledge of hospitallity and to live the same way and not try to change their view on life. We have since returned to Australia and traveled to remote parts of Northern Territory and had a similar experience with the Aboriginal yolgnu people. We had wonderful times meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. Its now come to a halt with a back injury. I can no longer chef as a career and wish to do photography as a much needed career change. I love photography more and more each day and its endless to capture new exciting pictures that tell a story. I look forward to the future and putting myself out there as a new photographer.
