My Scholarship entry - Portrait of Nepal

Nepal | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos

The viewfinder of my camera helps me escape into a mesmerising world of creativity. It keeps me humbled and grounded to reality. Capturing the everyday lives of people and bringing out their extraordinary tales for the world to see in turn helps me find my niche in this society. The numerous road trips taken with my family fuelled my desire to document every place I had travelled to in form of photographs. With each photograph that I took, I learnt that the visual media is a strong tool in my hand. A recent trip to Nepal gave me an opportunity to explore its vibrant and rich culture. Nepal is known as an abode for the Hindu gods, the mighty Himalayas and a birthplace of Gautam Buddha. My journey from the bustling streets of Kathmandu, to the Himalayan mountains and down to the plains of Chitwan has been documented in the form of portraits representing different strata of the society and culture. This scholarship and workshop with Jason Edwards would be a great learning experience and would help me grow, build on my strengths and guide me in the right direction for a successful career in the field of photography.
