Needles and Noses

USA | Sunday, 20 January 2008 | Views [444]

so i did it. i got my nose pierced. we drove out to leesburg (which must have been moved like 20 miles out cos i don't remember it being that far...), we being me and my boyfriend. he sat in the car for an hour, drove and listened to me whine about how nervous i was and unsure. i apologized like 8 times for it being that far, and told him to turn around at least twice but like the stellar man that he is, he kept driving and stood right behind me as i got it done.

so heres the procedure - incase you were curious. there's these clampy thingies... scary! but they've got a space at the end for where the needle goes through your nose. theres this giant hollow needle with a carved off tip, so it comes to one point. note - don't look at it before it goes in; eyes closed is a plus. so that gets bent into like a curvy shape so that it doesn't go straight through and pierce the other nostril. so the needle goes through on an exhale, and then sits there for a sec, half way through your nose, and the nose ring gets attached to the hollow end so that by pulling the needle all the way through, the nose ring just follows and goes right in. the best part was having to hold a paper towel under my nose to catch the needle, and for the occasional bleeders which i'm proud to say i was not!! i wish i'd gotten a picture of the actual needle in my nose... mistake = opening my eyes to see the top end of it just about by my eyeball. big question = did it hurt? it hurt when the needle went through, but as soon as the ring got in place it went away. i could definitely tell there was some foreign object in my shnauze, but that was about it. it doesn't hurt now, two days later. only when i forget its there and scratch my nose.

but consensus is that i like it. it's taken a bit of getting used to, plus or minus a few freak outs debating whether or not to take it out. but like i said before, this is my only chance to do something like this; i'm not a tattoo girl so i'll be good for a few years with it :)

now aside from that, my mom signed the buying papers three days ago, and the selling papers today. so it's pretty much official we're moving. that is if we can get the house cleaned up by um tomorrow. that's when it goes on the market and they have to take pictures to advertise. first open house is sunday. hey... you... buy my house? k thanks! no but really, i've cleaned like two trash bags out of my room, still working on it. another bag of clothes that i never wear anymore, and then a basket to fold and two loads of dirty wash. however for the first time i can finally see a majority of my shelf space, but after throwing away so much i don't have anything left to put in them. oh well...

i've just been harassed to get off the computer and continue cleaning.

haha funny side note - my mother's going colorblind. don't know if that's possible but she just asked for the green paint. well i dunno but the walls i just painted were beige, a light brown if anything. i don't think she appreciated my observations about her color identifying skills.
