MARY ON HOLIDAY 2012 Adventure: Oregon, Netherlands, France, UAE, Seychelles, and return

Preparation begins in earnest

T-18 and counting.  Last minute hoo-haa here.  Updating the iPhone, adding music for the 10 hour ride in the tube tomorrow.  Books, mask and snorkel, cameras and gadgetry - all packed.  Mom, Dogs, Dog-sitter - all sorted.  Christmas trees in the burn pile, dump run accomplished, travelers insurance (ya... I know but...) - check.

We're headed first to Europe (read: winter in Northern hemisphere) and then to the Arabian Sea (Southern Hemisphere).  Oh, and don't forget in the middle we are taking a jaunt through a place where I have to "wear appropriate clothing" (read - sharia law), which just complicates the whole packing thing.

I have competed phase one. (Im a GREAT packer by the way.) It is key to put all the cloths that you think you will need out on the bed, sort thru them, match colors (I will be in all kinds of photos after all), organize and then let is sit for a day.  The most important part takes place day 2 (today), remove 1/3 of everything you have selected and leave it behind, you wont need it.  NOW, I have room for the headlamp, SPOT, more books, sunglasses and fun stuff.

If I get-er-done, a nice soak in the hot tub would be nice......
