For a week we've cruised from port to port around the Mediterranean. We've rocked and rolled across the seas. We've walked our legs around new places with new sights to see. We've enjoyed LOTS of different food and the odd cocktail. Monday 13 February 2017 it has ended. We pulled in to Civitavecchia on schedule, and before we knew it we were back on dry land an on another train heading in to Rome and straight back out again for the airport station of Fiumicino. Finding a cab, we headed to our hotel for the night. Leaving our luggage in our comfortable room we headed out to find some lunch in this quaint fishing village located at the mouth of the Tiber River. A feed of unique fresh and tasty seafood down, we strolled back to our hotel via a little pasticceria for cappuccino and local pastries. Up around the corner we dropped in to the local supermarket for some bottles of water. What a treat! Supermarkets in Italy sell everything! This one was the best yet. Bring in your bottles and fill them with wine from the barrels; bags of olives of all colours and sizes; cheese wheels the size of a car tyre or little oddly shaped balls - buy as much or as little as you want; Bread - now this is the one I love - just tell them how much you want and which type and they'll cut you off a chunk - pay by the kg; one aisle full of oversized tins & packets of ingredients for all dishes Italian. All we did buy was our water - less than 20 euro cents per bottle - ridiculous.
Then to spend the afternoon resting; tomorrow will be a big day as we head for home.
