We had a lazy start to the day on Saturday. We stayed in bed til late and finally got up around 10.30-11am. My bro-in-law was up and ready to head out the door pretty quickly and said 'I'm off to Walthamstow to pick up a pregnancy test'. I said 'What? What do you mean?' particularly shocked, which I found out was the desired effect as he replied that he was buying it for a mate for the stag do that night! I was pleased it wasn't for something else!!!
I headed out in the afternoon to South London to my friends Ange & Lee's place. It had been Clare's birthday a couple of days before (Clare & Ange are ex-flatmates) and we were going to have a night out to celebrate. We headed out to this big complex in Croydon. As we were heading to the place, the taxi driver was telling us about all the stabbings, violence and riots that have been happening. I was suddenly wondering why we were going to this place out of all of London! However, all was good and once we got into the complex, we headed straight to the cocktail bar while waiting for another of Clare's friends. There we had a bit of a dance and a few cocktails. Downstairs through another couple of bars we found the restaurant - had some good food including a lovely belgian waffle with ice cream. It was delicious. Back upstairs the cocktail bar was full with dancers and we had a good time. We did however, note that we have certainly got older and were tired by the time 1am came round, so we headed back to Ange and Lee's - oh so different from when I used to live over here!!!
Sunday morning I headed out around 11.30 to go have lunch with another friend Leena. I'm not sure that I've said this before, but I HATE London transport at times!! This was one of those times. I missed the first train by 30secs, so then had to catch two to get to the destination I needed. Then jumped on the tube, changed to another then, where I was supposed to get on another train to my friends place, had to get on the bus, because the track was closed for maintenance. It was a little stressful, not knowing exactly where I was supposed to get off, however I finally found the stop, only to get on another bus to get to her place. All in all it took me 2 1/2 hours to get to her place for lunch!!! But it was a great lunch and awesome to catch up with her, see her house and meet her husband. :-)
That night I went with Adele and Chris to hear the Watoto Orphans Childrens Choir. They are over touring the UK for the next 6 months apparently. They were fantastic. I have heard them before, but seeing them again was great. A fantastic sound and they did a really professional job. They are orphans in Uganda who have been taken in by the Watoto organisation. A lot of the children are orphaned because their parents died of HIV/AIDS. But this organisation have given them a home and is helping to foster their dreams of becoming pilots, teachers, lawyers and even the President of Uganda!
