My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Growing up in the small New Zealand town of Akaroa, we did not have a television. If we wanted to watch something my grandmother would record it for us and we would watch it when we went visiting her. We were allowed to request anything we liked, but all I ever wanted was for her to record travel and wildlife documentaries. I dreamt of being the man that made those documentaries and got to visit all those wonderful places.
When I was leaving school my teachers and pears expected me to go on to university to become a scientist or a doctor. However I still had my dream of being the Man behind the documentaries. I had developed an interest in photography at school and wanted to study Photography. What a pleasure it was to have these two years focused solely Photography!
I finished studying and the urge to get out and see the world overtook me. Weeks later I was on a plane to Europe. I had such a hunger to immerse myself in as much of the world as I could and discover as many interesting people and places as possible. This opportunity to combine my two great passions and to learn from someone that is living my dream just may be the tipping point I need to realize my own potential.
