I am sooooooo tired. The days really are quite action packed with so much to see so you come home pretty tired and no no no resting time because of thos lovely people that prefer to spend their cash on booze rather than discovering NZ nature. ;) but hey thats the travelling life. We left yesterday from Te Anau to Milford Sound and once again had a beautiful bus ride there. Passed really high through the mountains where it wsa snowing quite a bit outside. lo's of cheaky little Kea birds were there ( they tend to try and knick things from you) Then we were off again on a cruise... and once again it rained at least a bit more sunshine on the way back. but apparently they get rainfalls of 6-9m a year and 200 days of rain or something in that area so rain is a thing to expect. We saw a couple of seals and these tiny pinguins .. really adorable. apparently they are almost extinct so that was pretty neat! Like in Doubtful Sound there were plenty of waterfalls at Milford Sound . The mountain formations making up the sound are massive and some of the waterfalls are even higher than Niagara Falls ( at least so I was told) Learned some interesting stuff about NZ as well. Apparently there were only 2 or 3 mammals on the island before humans made their way over here and once the Europeans came they introduced all sorts of animals like rabbits, deers and possums. This really has however distroyed some of the natural habitat because these animals didn't have any natural preditors. For example the deers multiplied like crazy. in the end they started hunting them and exporting the meat mainly to Germany. They fly with a helicopter over the deer and then capture them with a net gun....
In the evening we arrived back in Queenstown . it was about 4 hours on the bus from Milford Sound. Lisa and me ( the girl from Thames Ditton) treated ourselves to a Ferg Burger which is apparently THE thing to eat in Queenstown. and I must admit that Burger was gooooooood. Had another one today ;) We discovered some weired stuff yesterday apparentlyyou can by these pills in some of the liqor stores which are callled : Legal Highs' stuff which makes you hallucinate ... we thought that that was rather odd to just have a bunch of colourful pills right next to the chewing gum counter. I mean it can't be anything hardcore but still..
This morning I went on a Lord of the Rings trip to Glenorchy which was a total rip off but the scenary was still really lovely.. I was sying for a little snooze this afternoon but there is a hald naked rather nasty dude snoooring heavily in my room. I am not too excited for tonight when I will want to sleep and he is probably gonna come back completly wasted. HAPPY DAYS...
So besides the lack of sleep I am still absolutely thrilled by NZ and already decided that I am DEF coming back here. Tomorrow I am heading north to Christchurchb will be pretty much an entire day on the bus and then the next dya further North to Laikoura where all the whales and dolphins are.
hope you are all well
Stef
