This is an Eastern Vedda family. I spent most of my time exploring the area with the father, and the son never left his side. It was incredible to see the way the boy was allowed to roam around on his own, but quickly ran into his mother's arms.

This a young Dambana boy, we had just finished bathing in a lake close to his hut. It is the only way they shower, often groups of men will go to the lake and bathe in it. When I asked about crocodiles, they laughed and told me only on the other side.

The is the mother of the tribal chief. Although shy, she allowed me to approach her and capture this image. The pride with which she carried herself and the underlying sense of knowledge was awe inspiring.
