Roadtrip - Who Am I?

UNITED KINGDOM | Monday, 4 November 2013 | Views [227] | Scholarship Entry

My Alaskan oil-rigging mate announced he was doing a pump course in Aberdeen, the hub of North Sea oil. I jumped at the chance to meet him from London & to finally pay my respects to my GrandPoppa, born in Glasgow 100 years ago. My experience is limited but my enthusiasm for learning is boundless. I love observing people, travelling, questioning & finding the quirky sides of life, looking for the unique & interesting characters that will help tell my story. My biggest personal film-making achievement was my 1st proper documentary (never aired) for my brother, a heavy metal petrol head living in Perth, off to do the ‘GasDash’, a 3 day endurance race in the outback of Western Australia – I followed the underdog & his fellow competitors. The buzz of immersing myself in an unknown world of dirt bikes & dust, engaging with the 200 competitors – fantastic! I want to capture priceless moments, or simply ordinary but in a way that a strong message can be conveyed. Having Brian Rapsey as a mentor..You would not believe! To have that kind of guidance in New Orleans, home of amazing musicians, history, culture, adversity, joy, jazz, blues, swampland, voodoo .. bring it on! Story central!
