The people of Fiji, with their every ready smile and twinkle in their eye, are the real treasures of the Fiji Islands. Behind radiant smiles, unseen struggles of poverty dominate the lives of most Fijian people, and yet despite their desperate needs, they smile and laugh like they have no worries in the world!

Fiji is an exceptionally exotic and beautiful place, but many visitors to Fiji only see a tiny fragment of the true beauty of this place - they see the aqua water, the white sandy beaches, reefs teaming with abundant life and palm trees waving in the glistening sunlight, and these things in Fiji are beautiful indeed! But the deeper beauty of Fiji is often unseen by the majority.

Many unseen interior regions and villages are places of incredible mystery and intrigue in Fiji. Abounding in splendor, these places are the gateway to discovering the spirit of Fiji – the tenacity and strength of the people! This teenage girl, after walking for 7 hours up difficult mountain terrain, in excruciatingly hot, humid conditions, slips over in a stinky mud pit and yet is still able to laugh at herself and her situation, regardless of her weariness and unpleasant predicament! Fijian’s have this amazing, uncanny ability to laugh at themselves in all situations - now that’s spirit!
