I derived
inspiration from seeing people find joy and peace in the most mundane and
common experiences, such as a day at the beach.
It is the perfect picture of letting go of the material worries and be
happy with that moment.
I planned my
location and the characters basing it on my favorite islands: Ibiza and Formentera. They embody the carefree 60’s spirit and one
can see its reflection in its people. I
planned on filming them in their natural carefree state, but I never plan the
results.
The
main challenge was filming in the location and natural conditions; the waves were rocky and made it tricky to film. There’s the fear of damaging the equipment
and also there were prohibitions as to where we can film.
I studied
Media in Spain before I moved to LA to be a filmmaker. In that path of changes
I discovered the great potential in documentaries. I started a
documentary about my Ecuadorian grandfather's biography, which is one of the
reasons why I have a special interest on going to Ecuador again and discover
more about the people and the land that my grandfather lived in and loved.
