Welcome to my meandering of thoughts and an upcoming Peru adventure to be shared with 3 Kindred Spirits -- Sandra, Carolyn, and my Son, Ben. Though this particular journey began to unfold in January of this year during a casual conversation with Sandra, the actual dream of seeing Machu Picchu began in the '80's during my "previous Life as a Travel Agent." This dream has expanded...
Beginning mid-December, the 4 of us will be volunteering with a non-profit organization, Peru's Challenge. We'll be working weekdays on projects specfically involving children, women, and local communities -- and I shall be writing about our experiences as well as the Peruvian culture. During the evenings and weekends, the time is ours to explore, tour, and further immerse ourselves into the adventure. Post-Christmas and following our volunteering commitment, we will take a 4-day trek to Machu Picchu, and then return home early in January.
I'll be posting updates as often as possible, but for now our preparations are taking full focus. The "to do lists" are being down-sized and re-prioritized, the piles are growing with "things to take," and the countdown has changed from months to weeks to only days.
Here's to "dreams come true!"
