Rapidly descending into the Minyon Falls valley the dense forestry almost immediately changes into sparse, lush palms.

A strangler vine grew around a tree many decades ago, restricting it of nutrients and sunlight. Now the tree has rotted away leaving a hollow centre.

The rhyolitic cliff face of Minyon Falls was created by lava flows from the nearby Mt Warning volcano, which is now a dormant husk. The water plunges 104 metres and falls so far that it disperses into the air before reaching the river below.
