My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Philippines | Thursday, January 10, 2013 | 5 photos
Remembering my childhood made me realize that photography has been a part of my life even before I know it. Since my first serious hold of a camera when I was 10, my awe for photos continued to grow.
I’m now an 18-year-old student who is still in love in photos—specially photos of plants, animals and landscapes. I also love the real thing itself because I feel connected to it. I’m slightly shy but I’m a brave young girl who is on for an adventure even in the simplest moments.
In my thoughts of joining, my contribution for the society was less prioritized. But now, I see this as a stepping stone for me to improve my skills and to somehow improve society. This contest gave me hope that a photo could somehow be a calling to awaken people blinded from poverty, violence, and maltreatment of Mother Nature. I wanted to use the skills I will acquire to help others in ways I can. I wanted to learn how to use photography as a tool to connect to other people. From this scholarship, I fully understand that it’s the experience that counts—knowing more people, listening to their stories, being a part of a big team, savoring the place’s ambiance, learning more and learning more.
