My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Italy | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 4 photos
My thirst for travel and culture extends far beyond the scope of my photos. It is my chosen outlet for capturing the finer beauty of the world unseen by the naked eye, and I use the skills I have learned to help others see it too.
I study photography at my University and during a study abroad semester in Italy, my quest for knowledge led me to a series on the common, ordinary man. The worker, the foodie, the political activist. Someone we see every day, even in ourselves, but always overlook. My aim was to bring him into the light and let him be seen in all his glory.
The hunger that lingers inside of me, aching to explore the world, I fear, may never be satisfied. But a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Oman and learn from the one of the best photographers in the world, at a magazine and organization I have aspired to become a part of for so long may help quench my thirst and drive me one step closer to my life goal. I have such an immense passion for this field of travel photography and I am so excited to learn everything possible so that I can improve to my greatest potential.
Sincerely,
Shawn Paone
