The main street of tiny Vang Vieng consists of guesthouses, a tubing rental facility, tourist shops selling neon sunglasses and tank tops, and bar after bar after bar playing re-runs of Friends over and over again 24 hours a day.

We didn't let the clouds dampen our spirits! Yes, we spent one day tubing and yes, we had some booze. No we did not drink ourselves into oblivion like so many other teenagers there were doing and no, we did not drown.
