My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
New Zealand | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 4 photos
I grew up in a mixed race/religion family in NZ and found it very hard to fit in and be accepted .
This outsider's perspective helped me to see the world differently. Instead of division I saw The Divine, musing it’s our differences that make us human.
When asked at the age of 9 what I wanted to be when I grew up, it was to travel the world taking pictures for National Geographic!
I got my chance with a 3yr OE in 2005. I bought a DSLR, started a travel photography course, and amassed over 15,000 images from Madrid to Mumbai! (commendable mention in the 2007 TPOTY awards.)
I truly believe that my unique perspective enabled me to notice and appreciate the different cultural nuances that permeated through the various places I went. This also helped me find myself along the way.
My style is all about looking at capturing and celebrating the emotional connections between humans, nature, and the spirit, that are translated through different languages, places, and rituals.
I would LOVE to travel to Oman, push myself to being better at my craft, whilst pursuing my dream of becoming a professional travel photographer and sharing my unique vision of a world united by it’s differences.
