Day 17 Grein - Melk (44 kms)

AUSTRIA | Wednesday, 25 June 2008 | Views [446]

I just spent an hour and a little more writing the best page for you ever and then the page timed out and it all disappeared. Well, what do I always say, ‘Save often - it costs nothing’.

Anyway, here are the days highlights in short:

http://www.stiftmelk.at/

Strong winds – managed only 2.5 km/h in the morning

Had a swim in the river only to discover that Austrian ICI equivalent had leaked toxic stuff into the river.

Longest shower ever.

Arrived Melk Rowing Club at six.

Destroyed Melk Rowing Club boat trolley whilst being distracted by freespirited nymph taking a swim in the river sans clothes. Was only distracted as I thought this was an excellent idea in this heat but maybe not so good in view of ICI incident...

Met Günther and Barbara from the club for a drink

Got into a bad storm

Had chocolate cake whilst seeking refuge in the local BP station

Watched the four German teams only just beat lonley Turkey at Cafe ‘Central’ in Melk

Four German teams:    Philip Lahm (Fellow Bavarian)

                                   ‘EL Capitano’ Ballack (Saxon Colonies)

                                   Pani Podolski (Poland)

                                   ‘Miroslav’ Klose (Suspicious!)

Rest of the team from the FRG (Federal Republik of Germay)

To the Spanish team -  Best I can explain it – you’d better find some more support from them Valencianos and Catalans.

I’ll be leaving Vienna before the final but first I have to get there...
