My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I'm a 21 year old female graduate student living in Brooklyn (NYC). I graduated early from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in political science and global studies. I now study at New York University as a Master's student pursuing a joint MA in journalism and international relations. I'm a writer by nature, but I love photography and capturing moments. Everything I know about photography is self-taught, & I've enjoyed the learning process.
I've been blessed to have the opportunity to travel, & I studied in Morocco in the summer of 2011 on a US Department of Education fellowship grant. I lived in Fes for 9 weeks, studying advanced Modern Standard Arabic, practicing French, & learning Darija. It was the best nine weeks of my life.
I'm hardworking and dedicated, undoubtedly like many applicants. I learn quickly, and I love to learn. As a student of Arabic and the Middle East, I would appreciate (and understand) the culture of Oman on a deeper level than most applicants, & subsequently would be better able to capture that culture.
Being selected would be an incredible honor, & an opportunity I would not take lightly. This scholarship would enhance my studies, but it would also change my life.
