My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

When I picked up my 1st DSLR to document my travels I had no interest in or knowledge of photography as an art. I was taking pictures of what I saw, no rules or technique. But people liked them and praised my 'eye'. This sparked my curiosity and I began to experiment a bit more, until it gradually became the part of each trip I most looked forward to. As a travel junkie for 8 years I never imagined any feeling could match that which I get from experiencing a new place, but the combination of these two addictions in the last couple of years has blown me away. It's a completely unique feeling to have captured, and in a way created, something beautiful. My only problem now is that I feel I have reached some sort of plateau, I'm at a level that I'm happy with and proud of, yes, but I don't want it to stop here. That feeling of progress and improvement is what makes it so exciting- I want to learn how to venture even further outside my comfort zone- where the magic happens! People have asked me why I don't attempt travel photography as a career, and I've shrugged it off believing it to be an unattainable dream. Until now, that is. After all, everything is impossible, until it's not.
