Photos: The Kingdom in the Sky

When I picked up my 1st DSLR to document my travels I had no interest in or knowledge of photography as an art. I was taking pictures of what I saw, no rules or technique. But people liked them and praised my 'eye'. This sparked my curiosity and I began to experiment a bit more, until it gradually became the part of each trip I most looked forward to. As a travel junkie for 8 years I never imagined any feeling could match that which I get from experiencing a new place, but the combination of these two addictions in the last couple of years has blown me away. That feeling of progress and improvement is what makes it so exciting- I want to learn how to venture even further outside my comfort zone- where the magic happens! And so here I am applying for this scholarship... :)

That feeling of progress and improvement is what makes it so exciting- I want to learn how to venture even further outside my comfort zone- where the magic happens! People have asked me why I don't attempt travel photography as a career, and I've shrugged it off believing it to be an unattainable dream. Until now, that is. After all, everything is impossible, until it's not.
