so left Na Noi cold morning numerous layers and bought some gloves. misty and took while to warm up. days are quite hot.
small agriculture. junction to next road lunch. met group of young men motorcycle tour from Bangkok. huge bikes and geared up. told us a little of road ahead. last eve met two Thai bicyclists. very fit longer tour. just over mts. fun meet up.
so up we go some quite steep and down and up ravines full of little hills and terraced crops. very little traffic good road so pleasant to be able to be out here. very small towns along the way. coming to river where ferry will be, have been told can rent sleep on a barge.
is fisherman village, bit of tourist thing. as far as they put sign on road about it. arrive confusing main road ends at lake, have to go back up very steep hill down other ravine.
very small 'town' on the water mostly. bunch of wooden floating structures. roped together. couple restaurants could accommodate numerous folks,. i think in summer or holiday or weekend more folks come up. both restaurants have a place to sleep. tiny room or open deck. we chose. very basic! tin room off to side for squat toilet and bucket shower. works fine. kids dogs racing around. real expensive fish dinner. tasty but more then most room rent I’ve paid.
sadly is all so littered polluted. long tail boats race about delivering people and goods. way to get home or across inlet. kind of quite at night. between roosters dogs children, tvs, boats. and fluorescent lights all night . cold again.
things start slowly so later start. have small ferry towed by long tail, but they brought even smaller one for us and two bikes. driver by long tail motor. about 15 mins across. road not so good and we going up. long long day of some steep ascents and downs. some of time rolling hills and great views through out. layers and layers into the distance of hills small scale agriculture. alot or corn that surprises me. very small towns just supporting local population. little industry beyond working the fields.
stop small place store/cafe for lunch. kids from school across road come for snacks and ogle the farang. weary and always more up. out of ag and dry jungle, lots of bamboo and bush. long downhills hanging on the brakes. Keith just zooms. past 4 arrive very tired to Nam Pat.
again kind person escort us hotel. own room tonight mostly just bite to eat and fall into bed. karaoke :( loud and late. roosters and dogs early. but did sleep. cool but not as cold. over cast day. stay here a day. couple errands. and find cyber. hope all is well with each of you till next time :)
