any way Here i am!! wheeee quick update. slip sliding out of oregon between frost and icy rain. thank you claire Mac and Heide for accomadating me so generously. long time walking about SF airport circles and up and down stairs. long old flight to bejing. hour late getting going. really rough ride first hour or so. attendants remained seating. lunch stand around slepp read dinner stand around sleep ect.
less then two hours to transit Bejing, jogging through two check points and a scan even in transit side. fellow traveler say couple time we will miss flight so they let us go to head of line. arrived at gate as they loading. wheee. not as long a flight but flet it slept stand around etc.
finally Bangkok! easy through immigration huge new airport oh the Bejing one is huge too but no time check it out. any way luggage then head to 'meeting point' there are so many places along the way people with signs and names. just happen to see my name on sign. darn didnt get pix. another very interesting travler waiting. cultural anthropologist and does guided tours. for the main reason of getting a way into places to bring goods to orphans. she has been able get into Burma for numbers of years. shuttle to hotel i had reserved room. not too far here i am in familiar world. not even too tirred at moment. really happy for shower and bed to lie in!!!
next morn familier world. warm :) particular bird and smells out walk alittle not much of options jsut here. a hotel breakfast mediocre. shuttle back to airport main reason there is connector train to main system of metro and skytrain. just go slowly each step often people to help along the way. learning train system and connections. get down town area near next hostel had reserved. deciede walk not too far but hot now and the trafific intense. the traffic stand stills are famous. street food carts, umbreallas,awnings line side walk. all around high rises of business. finally find hostel.
oh oh very disorganized. man helping not regular staff cant get room till 2 is now 10 30. but can leave goods. they will have to find out about paying later they did find my res. that a relief. so back out into fray. skytrain i block. now i am high rise malls and hotels area. train to river longer then i expected river trip and thea abit confusing as to where when how much. which line which pier off at. i knew bike shop on one side but let self get talked into getting out opposit. fun cause big mkt would like to have explored further but on mission really helpful folk tell what do. across river decide take moto taxi to place as is pretty far and circuitious route. small shop few bikes not cheap but get good one. yea accomplishmet! :)
but no rack. send me off to another part of area where more bike shops. now i have bike to transport me but now i in the traffic. did get some street ice cream on the way and some fun interactions with disbelieving moto dirvers. and shop after shop but not standard rack option .findally one do it and remember back light and lock. difficult ride and walking bike back to skytrain back to my stop. full train this hour arg. to hostel after quite awhile found the keys sorted me out with several room changes to accomadate a group. but finally own room even provide towel. share bath with dorms can get burning hot or icy shower. about time to just stay put in room.
this morn out for walk. oh forgot mention Kings bday today so much celebrating! much traffic! some places closed. find market closish to hostel, after hither and yon with no luck. papaya yummy mango tangerines and some veg prepared food. they finally got my stuff sorted to paid up. pretty sketchy run place. the owner was in room next to mine sexing some one late into night and this morn on the phone with 'helper' down staris. really pretty amusing. off in search of 'luggage' am in high rent district but again while i was at travel agent re my out bound tix, cancelled fihgt so differnt time. she couldnt healp there but i asked and she directed m cheaper area.
shop shopshop onmalls alleys, street, high rises. did find my water immersion heater. yea. and finally finally my 'luggage' hope it works. weary and w ill be trying to get out of town manana. continuing education in getting self from here to there. and some times back again. and came across this rare cyber cafe. yea. at some moment Might try pix up load but for now just woardy. hope my grammatical and spelling is still readable. computer sticky keys donesnt help. glad to be here. moment by moment deal with as i can. will jump back out into cacaphony of loud smells heat congestion. :) think of each of you with hugs
