A sunrise of discovery and people that where sealed off the the rest of the world. Political reasons divided these worlds, now as they open in a bang tourists will flow into one of the greatest temple landscapes in the world.
It was a privilege to be in Bagan to know people from there and the close towns. It felts weird to ride a ricksha in a tremendous heat.
Thought after I took these pictures, balloons started flying around the temples but at 350USD each flight it was a forlorn dream.
Myanmar is a country in trouble but one that starts to open. Not everyone will visit, but those that do, will most likely come with an incredible souvenir. In a place where only pointing the camera at some temples you create a beautiful photograph, there is no justice to the place.
Next to the Irrawaddy, destroyed by earthquakes, re-built and still an active temple site. It's an enduring testament to the will of its people.
