My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

We went to the above mentioned farmers house with his invitation. On the way what we saw was a young girl, her two little brothers and grandmother taking their cattle for feeding them. Cattle become very helpful in their cultivation and bring them a small extra income.

The youth follows their elders’ steps and take up the burden of cultivation. Farmers’ daughters get married around their 18’s usually to another farmers son where they strive to increase the land cultivated. This is a picture of such a young mother with her baby.

We were treated with so much hospitality at the farmer’s little palace. The garden was a true beauty with all types of vegetables grown. And it was a bird paradise. A coconut tree was full of these birds, (we call them WADU (means carpenter) birds and their nests. It was such a beautiful housing scheme. Wadu bird is such a crafty nest builder and tourists have a high demand on them. But its illegal to sell them or their nests.
