Back again, so quickly this time!
So on 12/3 (Phnom Penh) We went to the Killings Fields (Genocide Centre) at Choeun Ek and saw the mass graves where the Khmer Rouge slaughtered their own people. It was pretty grim. There was a "monument" to the dead which held 8995 skulls that had been excavated from the site. Whilst walking around the site, there were still bones and bits of clothing from the dead on the ground and sticking out of the ground. That was really weird. What made it more strange was that there was a school next door so while we were seeing all the bones in the ground, there were the screams of children playing in the background. We then went to the Russian Market and I finally brought some much needed new tops. Don't have to worry about laundry so often now! We then went to the Tuol Sleng Museum. This was a school that got turned into S-21 (Secutiry Prison 21) were the Khmer Rouge tortured and detained people before taking them to the killing fields. All in all it was a grim day to see what the Khmer Rouge had done to thier own people. Some of the stuff and the pics seemed worse than some of the stuff we had seen for the Vietnam War, as this time the people were killing thier own.

Today we wandered around the city and saw the biggest clock in Cambodia. It turned out to be on a lawn so it didn't really seem to count in my book! Went to Central Market which was huge, and brought another new top, this time a pj top so that was my defence to myself. Nice purple one with stars on. Went to the Royal Palace as well. We knew that they didn't allow bare shoulders so I took my scarf. They decided that I wasn't allowed to do that so I had to buy a big plain white t-shirt for $2 to get in, it was already $6 entrance anyway. Turned out that you could only look at the building on the complex and not go in them. Some of them were cool. But way overpriced to get in!!
14/3
Earliest start so far, 5.20!! (I know) Loaded our stuff on the bus and then went to say bye to Sarah but the staff had already made her get on the bus so we got a wave across the car park. Will hopefully see her when we get home. Arrived in Sihanoukville and got ourselves a beach bungalow, nice view of the sea. Went and watched the football, yes Mark gloat all you want. When we got back there was the biggest greenest cricket I have ever seen sitting on the mosquito net. Ell got rid of that one. I then went to wash my feet and a frog jumped out from behind the toilet. What a shock!! I was brave and dealt with that, eventually!! Tried to put the bin against the wall and I caught it eventually but then had to work up the courage to move it away from the wall a bit to put the lid on. What a relief when I had finally tipped it out the bin into the foliage outside. All this excitement and we are not even in the jungle yet!
That's all for now as my hour is about to run out. Will hopefully get back on again soon. We moving to Siem Reap on Saturday (where all the big impressive temples are) but hopefully I will get on again before then.
