Ok, today we are leaving
Buenos Aires after having been here for 3, 5 months. We are flying to Los Angeles, staying for one night and
then flying to The Cook Islands, a group of islands in the Pacific
Ocean. It is supposed to be a beautiful place, so we are really
looking forward to it.
The slight error of today
though has been that we got ridiculously early (5am) to get to the
airport for our 9.30 flight. But as we arrive to a empty Delta check
in desk, we realise that the flight is not until 9.30 in the evening.
We are 12 hour early! And we have had almost no sleep and we have
stressed a lot. Oh, dear. It was my mistake. I did not check the
tickets closely enough. Anyway, here we are, looking forward to
comfortable resting ton the hear benches of the airport for the rest
of the day.
The last few weeks has
been mainly consisting of two things: Illness for me and tango for
Roy. I was in bed for week, ending up on antibiotics for tonsillitis
(in Swedish: streptokocker) (I have just stopped taking them) and I
had to slow everything right down, still having to be cautious about
my health.
In the mean time Roy has
been working on is tango intensively, doing 2 private hours every
day and sometimes group classes and milongas in the evenings. I am so
glad to see his joy for the dance coming back and amazed by how hard
he is willing to work on this dance. He is improving a lot, but still
believes he has far to go.
As I regained my strength
with the help of the antibiotics I have returned to doing tango
classes as well. It is amazing to see that the more I engage in the
dance and for every little bit of progress I make, there is still
sooooo much more to learn. There is no quick fix and it requires
commitment and time (and money). I guess there will come a point for
me to see how much I am willing to put into this dance. Fore each
little thing I learn, another little part of this complex, beautiful,
passionate and intriguing dance is being relieved to me, and I think
it is true what they say: tango is not only a dance it is way of
life, it IS life, it is an expression of what it is to be a human
being co-creating and co-existing with another human being. During
our time here we have seen plenty of tango performances. Not the
shows that tourists go to, but shows that make a pause in the
milongas (dance evenings) performed by local dancers (some of whom
are stars or will become so in the near future), which each is
showing the spectacle of human relations, beauty, intimacy,
sensuality and connection. It is moving and heart opening as the act
of dancing in itself. So inspiring.
In the end of our stay we
arranged a good bye gathering for our friends that we have met during
our stay here. We started off with drinks and snacks at our hostel,
Roy made fantastic Mojito's, and then we went for a picadas/meze
dinner at an Armenian restaurant in our neighbourhood. It was a
lovely evening and I am so grateful to all the beautiful people that
has made our stay in Buenos Aires a wonderful memory! Thanks
everyone!
Right now Roy is sitting
next to me by the café table and his head is eyes are closed and his
head is falling to the side in a nodding fashion. Poor man,he only
had 3 hours sleep for each of the last 2 nights. It is going to be a
quiet day here at the airport....
Love
