Hi there,
I speak Welsh. Welsh was oppressed, but survived with very many more than a handful of speakers and is alive and well today. It's a living modern language, in daily use by hundreds of thousands of us all over Wales: about 20% of the population overall, but up to 90% some areas down to 10% in others.
'Old Welsh' refers to the form of the language used back in medieval times, about 1200 years ago.
Hope you enjoyed your trip here!
Steve.
