I am Rohit Pansare , 23 years old and a civil engineering student from Thane, Maharasthra, India. I live with my parents in Thane but presently am at Ahmedabad pursuing my Masters in Environmental Planning. I have my own environmental group which works for environmnental awareness related issues. In this context, I was also selected to be a part of the BYEEP 2008 ( Bayer Youth Environmental Envoy Programme) in Germany which was a week long study tour. Besides photography, reading, music and percussion instruments like the guitar are my interests.
I believe that art is a way of expressing life through an interactive medium. Photography is a kind of art which increases the interaction with the world.
I feel that in life, we need calmness, tranquility and freedom. My photos show the calmness of the water, the tranquility of nature and the freedom of the flora and fauna.
The sheer tranquility of Ladakh and Pangong lake is mesmerizing. The changing colours of the lake according to the shifting sun and a solitary man walking across the bank clinched the splendor of the place.
The lake had a prehistoric look. The missing piece was a dinosaur. I saw this dried stump of a plant looking like a dinosaur and told myself,”Here’s my dinosaur.”
Brown Gulls hovered freely above us. Travelling along the banks of the lake, these free flying birds made me feel like flying too.I captured their various moods and postures from the top of a minibus.
Wildlife Photography and travel is a passion for me and this scholarship has given me an opportunity to showcase these. So I feel I should be selected.
