My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

India | Thursday, July 4, 2013 | 5 photos

For me, if you have been lucky enough to be born in India and then not seen your own country, it is a life wasted. A land with so many diverse cultures, histories and geographies. Scores of stories, both told and waiting to be told.
Born in the state of Maharashtra with the Sahyadris always just round the corner, trekking has been like a ritual for me since childhood. Trekking slowly turned me into a traveler. With a desire to visit remote and unknown places in India.
Working in advertising as an art director and having been exposed to the work of so many great photographers, I never had the courage to pick up a camera.
Finally, about 5-6 years ago I bought a camera. It started with me taking simple snapshots. But soon, I started to find more meaning in them. A story that needed to be told, a voice that needed to be heard. Now it has become my passion to try and evoke feeling in every photograph that I take.
It would be an honour and the opportunity of a life time if I get to benefit from the guidance and expertise of a professional photographer like Jason Edwards. It will help me immensely to try and find right direction and develop my skills as a photographer.
