What started as a semi-serious proposition over a chinese in Dunmow has suddenly become a reality as we leave in 2 days. It's also now dawning on me that after hours spent trawling through guide books, looking longingly at world maps and reading every travel site on the internet, we have basically managed to book our flights and two nights at Miss Maud's Swedish hotel.
Still, I'm consoling myself with a quote from Lao Tzu; "A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving." Now, according to wikipedia, Lao Tzu is the father of Taoism so he seems like a sensible fellow. Plus, as somebody who is about to travel through Heathrow (not terminal 5 thankfully), I think the latter part about not being intent on arriving is good advice, especially to our luggage.
Anyway, without too much further rambling, this will be our blog for the next few months. Hopefully it will be interesting and thought provoking but if not, you can always look at the pictures (we'll be the ones with smug smiles).
To everyone that has contributed, aided, abetted or otherwise encouraged us, thankyou very much and we'll see you in 4 months!
