My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Inside the monastery is one of the most beautiful graveyards I have seen. I was immediately drawn to the little creature and the dramatic light. The cat, who felt my presence, turned its head to look at me, as if asking me to retreat from disturbing its peace.

Living a simple life is the monastic way of life. I am nowhere as knowledgeable as perhaps most of the general public of what Buddhism and the practice of Dharma are, but what I witnessed when I visited this monastery at the heart of Siem Reap, Cambodia is the simplicity and the gentle nature of the Buddhist nuns. Here, before splitting some wood, a Buddhist nun calmly stood up against a backdrop of ethereal light rays.

Dressed in their prayer robes, two Buddhist nuns had a brief conversation before entering a temple inside the monastery.

This was the time when I was already starting to establish relationships with the nuns. The nuns already knew of my presence in their community and even with the language barrier they have been nothing but kind and gentle about my presence. I had been striking conversations with them thanks to my tuktuk driver who acted as my translator.
