My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I love to explore new places, see what’s around the corner, and see where that music is coming from. I love to be immersed in different cultures, through the smells and tastes of food, through the sounds of language and music and people. Too many times I've had an image in my head of what I want to photograph but realise it is more than the image I am trying to capture. I want to learn to capture and communicate the energy, the smells, the chaos of being in a busy marketplace or devouring tacos from a street vendor. I want my photos to tell the story, I want them to inspire adventure. I want to be able to bring new places to those who cannot go. And when I look back at my photos, I want be transported, with a single shot. I am only new to the world of photography but the more I learn, the more I realise how much there is to learn. (And that was before the UW housing). I am a keen and avid student, I learn best when thrown in the deep end and get to put my learning into practice. I can’t think of a better way to do this than with Jason Edwards and a professional and knowledgeable team. Oman and Nat Geo sounds daunting, but golly what an adventure it would be. Cheers, Siobhan.
