My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Rashel, and packed in a 5 feet 2 inches something body of mine is not only the atoms required to maintain life, there you’ll also find elements that build an insatiable amount of energy, creative and analytical properties that somewhat balance, a special organ by the layman term of adventure, and a pursuit to use what I can to help humanity.
Born in Egypt and migrating to Australia at an age of 8 where I’ve remained. A child of 1st generation immigrants living in a diverse society has taught me an appreciation of diversity, culture and religion. It is the people that fascinate me. It is an understanding of their culture that challenges me and it is capturing a still image that encapsulates the untold that drives me. Photography has allowed me to do that, it has taught me how to view the world. I started 'voluntouring' as a young fresh faced graduate, not equipped with the knowledge of the power that a captured image can have. From showing a recently snapped image on a 3' LCD display to a child who has never seen a picture of themselves, to utilising images in fundraising events to contribute to community’s growth. I want to win because I want to continue to learn and grow.
