Today we decided to take the plunge and do a longer but flatish ride. 45km return trip to Mael-Carhaix. Road and canal. The brochure said the trip back along the canal was 25km. It felt more like 35km, judging by how our bodies now feel and how long it took us!
We stopped for lunch in Mael-Carhaix. No menu? So we sat down and, without a word exchanged, a bottle of red wine, bread and water were placed on our table. Followed by an entree, main, cheeseboard, dessert and, for me, coffee. The restaurant was full, mostly men, and they were coming and going as we sat and ate. Total cost for the two of us, 24€ including the wine.
Maybe the meal could explain why it felt like forever cycling home?
