    The Nisqually Glacier in its cool, blue glory. After hours and hours we have seen our first glimpse of one of natures fading wonders. by: pvmphoto Views[124] This is where the large rivers at the bottom start forming. The massive land changing power of the white water rivers at the bottom of the mountain start here in little, life giving ,streams coming fresh out of the melting snow pack and seem to pour right off the face of the earth. by: pvmphoto Views[113] Now, in the sub-alpine area of the mountain, the wildflowers coat the landscape. We were told of there being small animals called pikas. They collect the wild flowers to build their nests. by: pvmphoto Views[112] Hiking away, we stopped to take in how far we had gone. The sky was open and blue and hills decorated with snow pack. Still a while to go by: pvmphoto Views[145] The bottom of the mountain was a disaster area. Runoff from the melting of the snow packs all formed a large river that devastates all in it's path. Getting here took avoiding flash flood warnings and falling rock signs clearly posted next to building sized boulders. by: pvmphoto Views[180]
