    Jivan, a Rickshaw puller by profession, sharing his time by talking to his old mother and family members, in the courtyard of his humble dwelling. He has four children, and none of them go to school. Lack of education is a major cause of poverty in this part of India. by: punit Views[290] A slightly affluent sister of the village Headman, sitting in her house, with fire tray, on the chilly winter morning. Her family is educated and she understands the problem of the people, so she helps in mobilizing the people of the village to send their children to school. by: punit Views[233] Kishan, who runs a small cycle repair shop, smiles with his wife and sister in front of his dilapidated house. He has no money to repair his house. He never went to school; today he barely earns enough to feed his family. by: punit Views[237] Old Ram Kumar with his family and his sons. Both his sons work in the nearby town of Daltonganj, one as a daily labourer and the other as a peon. It is a daily fight to earn their livelihood. by: punit Views[259] Shahpur village, Palamau District, in the eastern part of India, a backward village, during a cold winter morning of January 2014, with Ms. Minz, the Principle of a local school, on a social visit.
