My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Zambia | Friday, July 5, 2013 | 5 photos
Photography first started to interest me about 3 years ago. I always had a strong interest in art and music, but reason told me to pursue a degree in chemistry. Photography helped fill the creative void in my horribly academic world.
Studying the science and art behind making images has allowed me to experience the world in a new way. Seeing new perspectives and details that I would have missed before. The beauty of photography it is that the photo can then be shared so others can also enjoy these experience.
My photos for this series were taken while I was working in Zambia. I spent 3 months in Mongu, the provincial capital of the Western Province. The town lies on the edge of the Zambezi Floodplain. The Western Province is the poorest region in the country and most people living in Mongu rely on the floodplain for their livelihoods. The photos try to capture their unique way of life and difficulties they face.
I would love to go to Greenland. Going with Jason and a camera makes it all the better.
