I have arrived! It was a long and very tiring journey, with a 3 hour delay in London, which resulted in a mad dash across MADrid airport to catch the plane to Santiago, a 8hr delay there, due to waiting for luggage which never arrived (its still in Spain), missing my flight and the other flights that day being full. But finally I got here and found my bed and slept well. I now have to head out to buy toothpaste, hairbrush etc and then hang around the hotel waiting for the phonecall which gives us 10 mins to be ready for the flight to Antarctica. Luckily I brought my superwarm clothes in my hand luggage. I wore them on monday on the bus to Heathrow and through security, but they are made for cold climates not heated buses and airports. I was having a sauna inside them and changed to thin clothes which have been much more comfy for the rest of the journey. I had my 1st spanish lesson yesterday, on the 3.5 hr flight to Punta Arenas. Just as well, as the only people who speak english here are the other tourists.
