boxes, boxes, boxes

Lots of boxes to open!

Lots of boxes to open!

Wow! The postman, Mum, Dad and Val have been seriously busy! I had lots of boxes waiting for me to open when I got home. It was all very exciting! Grandpa hosted the outdoor clothing show- everything felt very cosy and warm, but it was tried on in his centrally heated house which wasn't the most strenuous of tests. We had a drive across to South Cerney to change the boots I'd bought (apparently I'm a 6.5 not a 6) and since then I have been packing. Of course it didn't all fit in my rucksac! So I've packed and repacked and think I'm there now. When you read about polar explorers in the past you dont really think about all the packing they had to do to make sure all their oil skins, canvas bags and hobnail boots were all in place, together with their salt biscuits, pemican, crates of tea and 35 huskies.

This afternoon we made mince pies and even have eaten Christmas pud, yum yum. Getting stocked up on all those calories for the cold in the next few weeks to come.
