Hola all...
still coughing and spluttering but not so much as before. I have uploaded most of my photos to flickr so if you would like to view them, please do at http://www.flickr.com/photos/pistachio_tumbleweed/
On World Nomad I only uploaded the photos up until Bolivia.. so there are many more photos yet that haven't been seen. Still, mostly photos of landscapes! I would have loved to take more photos of local people and the like but didn't because they either charge you for it (as is their right) or it feels too much like an intrusion. While I'm not against paying for the privilege of taking a photo - it does detract from the magic of the moment.
At some stage, I think in Rio or BA, I cooked up another poem. Still digesting the Andes I think! I also climbed a magnificent peak on the island of Illa Grande... (I think it was called Parrot Peak). A big 5 hour climb which I did on my own... it was a very jungle-like, secluded path that was a little tricky to follow (find) but it was definitely good medicine and sitting up on the peak on top of the world was something I really enjoyed. So I think that climb influenced this poem also.
Silent Mountain
Silent mountain
Silent, still...
Earthly power
Strength and will.
Perseverance
Reaching high...
Striving efforts
Touch the sky.
View the vista,
Vast and clear.
Get perspective
- what is dear?
Cleanse the spirit,
Clear the mind.
Energize
And be aligned!
I'm currently in Miriwinni... spot on the Highway north of Innisfail (one hour south of Cairns) sunny Queensland (where it's done nothing but rain, but I'm not complaining! However my mum was finally driven to buy a clothesdryer as even the dry clothes inside were starting to grow mould). Not sure where I will end up in the short or long term.. at the moment it could be Townsville, Cairns or ... even Brisbane. I think Lima, La Paz, Rio, BA and Santiago all helped me get over my big-smoke-itis.
Cheers for now!
