The Island View

USA | Monday, June 24, 2013 | 5 photos

It all sprouted from surfing. Alone and seventeen years old, the South Pacific was my first departure into the world of travel, art, culture, and self-realization. The feeling that echoed through my body when capturing a unique moment in time was enticing and captivating. I was soon saturated by the power of photography and shortly thereafter found myself exploring New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands.

After these trips I focused all of my passion into the art of photography. My photos evoked smiles, tears, laughter, and shock among those I shared with. I quickly realized the emotional influence of photography and its ability to break down international, racial, and language barriers. People really liked them, or at least told so; that in itself sustained my drive.

My passion lies deep within exploration of far and unfamiliar lands and an eternal eagerness to share my perspective with the world through photos. My goal is to use photography as a tool to spark awareness and action toward preserving our fragile ecosystems and diverse cultures; ultimately, to achieve a unified harmony with the land and each other.
