At the edge of town ghostly shadows creep across this ancient Chumash burial ground as the winter sun falls into the horizon and paints the sky. Prone to a unique, seasonal phenomenon where the ocean sunrise will parallel the ocean sunset, this elusive cemetery rests on a majestic and historic landmark used by explorers for centuries.

These days it's called the Jailhouse. Where the real locals gather for a sense of seclusion and expression, this amalgamation of cement is all that remains of a '70's beach shack grill. The fresh stench of rising spray paint lingering in the air makes their presence easily detectable from the dirt trail above. These cement walls are an everlasting template continually erased and overlain as if to mirror the sand below that is paved from the daily wash of waves and tides.

Sunset gazing provides treasured moments that often go overlooked by the masses. This particular tree sits in front of a small home owned by a couple that met during their college days.
