Well, the waiting has officially set in. All the major items are taken care, fingers crossed. I've contacted Big Box to store all my belongings, I'm scheduled to drop off my truck the day before I leave (October 30th) for autostorage, and I've got most of my trekking items.
Not quite all of them perhaps. I'm waiting on my backpack to arrive this week. REI is a bit slow. I ordered two weeks ago. Leaving a bit to chance with only two weeks left if I don't approve. And, I'm hoping all the other "gadgets" I bought (flashlights, shoes, antibacterial underwear, water purifiers, rain ponchos, jackets, shirts, shorts, etc.) fit in this baby. Somewhat hard to invision what I'll need for four months of backpacking through Central and South America.
For those of you who are just learning this...I'll be leaving Oct. 30th for a little excursion down south. Myself and longtime compadre "Carty" have decided to take a little break from the daily grind. My flight is at 6:20 am on the 30th, headed to Cancun. Plan on circling the Yucatan Peninsula, then heading south to Belize and Guatemala. Plan on about a month there. Then heading further south to Honduras and Costa Rica, another month there. On December 28th we have a flight from San Jose to Florianopolis, Brazil where we'll meet up with Dan and Daniela for NYE. Staying with them through January 8th where we have a flight from Florianopolis to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Details get pretty rough after that but we'll stay there for a few weeks and then head to Peru.
